Local bands and others from France and Israel will perform in Loud as Folk, a fundraiser for a new scholarship at University of Nevada, Reno, at 7 p.m. Sunday at Sassafras, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road.

The event, which will also offer food and drink specials and local art, is put on by Stephanie Painter, a UNR student who created the Native American Media and Fine Arts Scholarship.

The scholarship will help Native American students attend UNR for media and fine arts studies.

The show is all ages. Painter is asking attendees to donate $5 or more. Contributions will go to the scholarship, along with art sales and some food and drink proceeds.
