RENO — Colin Kaepernick, the standout San Francisco 49ers quarterback and one of the all-time great student-athletes in Nevada history, returns to Northern Nevada as the centerpiece of the 47th annual Governor’s Dinner on July 10, the athletics department announced today.

The dinner is set for July 10th at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. Tickets will go on sale on Monday at 9 a.m. and can be ordered online at www.NevadaWolfPack.com/GovDinner[NevadaWolfPack.com]. This event is expected to sell out.

Kaepernick was a 2010 graduate of the University of Nevada and was a four-year star quarterback for the Wolf Pack. In 2010, he led Nevada to a conference title with an upset of No. 3 Boise State as part of a 13-1 season that culminated in a No. 11 national ranking for the Wolf Pack. A second round choice in the 2011 NFL Draft, Kaepernick is entering his fifth year in the NFL and his fourth as the starting quarterback for the 49ers. He’s twice led the team to the playoffs, including an appearance in Super Bowl XLVII following the 2012 season.

“We are thrilled to have Colin back in our community and for him to be a special part of this great event,” athletics director Doug Knuth said.

Beginning today through June 1, tickets are $350 per person with tables of 10 available at $3,500. After June 1, prices go up to $400 and $4,000, respectively. VIP tickets are available on a limited basis and include access to the pre-dinner VIP reception with Kaepernick. Individual VIP tickets are $600 with tables of 10 available for $5,000.

All proceeds from the Governor’s Dinner benefit student-athlete scholarships at the University of Nevada. For tickets or more information, call (775) 682-6901 or email WolfPack@unr.edu.
