With a slim roster, the Fallon swim teams made the most of their Division I-A state appearance.

The Fallon boys finished 12th with 11 points, while Boulder City won the crown with 99 followed by Truckee with 79. The Lady Wave, meanwhile, placed 13th with four points as Boulder City won the title with 145 followed by Truckee with 104.

Senior Kyle Grimes ended his career with a pair of top seven finishes on Saturday at the Carson Aquatic Center.

He took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle just being edged out by Sierra Vista’s Bailey D’Alessio by one one-hundreth of a second. Grimes touched the pad in 23.37, while D’Alessio came in at 23.36.

Grimes also took seventh in the 100 free in 53.06, while Bowen Becker of Faith Lutheran won the event in 47.12.

“Kyle moved up one spot in the 100 from last year,” Fallon coach Ken Grimes said. He was close to his best times. I was pretty happy.”

The 200 free relay team of Christian Nemeth, Kobe Abe, Isaac Kelsey and Kyle Grimes placed eighth in 1:46.49.

The same foursome took eighth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:59.17.

“Kobe dropped time significantly in his split, so that was nice to see,” Ken Grimes added. “Christian was pretty excited and is gearing up for next year. Several guys got a good opportunity (to experience state).”

The Lady Wave’s 400 free relay squad of Amber Revels, Danielle Brown, Josey Moore and Katrina Ward took seventh in 4:43.15.

“Josey was our alternate and I swam all our seniors,” Grimes said of the girls relay.
