1921-2015
Sue (Strunk) Reid Blon passed away on January 16, 2015 in Great Falls, Montana after a long and loving life. Born in Oakdale, Tennessee in 1921 to Sidney and Myrtle (Webb) Strunk, Sue was the youngest of seven children and the last to survive. She married Clyde Bernard Reid and raised three children: Linda Anne (Reid) Bacon, a longtime resident of Carson City, deceased 2011; Robert Preston Reid of Reno; and Larry Bernard Reid of Great Falls, Montana. She was known to her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and to the community as “Nana”. From the hills of Tennessee to the jungles of Florida to the deserts of Nevada, Sue always saw the silver lining and remained the centerpiece of the family to the end. Sue was widowed in 1966, when she and her son, Larry, joined Linda and Patrick Bacon in Carson City, where she worked at Mallory Electric and in turn met and married Howard Blon, a native of Pennsylvania. The couple relocated to Sunnyvale, California for a few years but returned to Carson City, where Sue later worked at Capital Furnace Company and in retirement enjoyed many years with family, friends and nights out on the town. Sue always went out on a Friday and this was no exception. There will be a burial service on Saturday, May 23 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Lone Mountain Cemetery, where she will be be buried alongside her husband, Howard. A light luncheon will be served afterward from three to five o’clock at 1871 North Lompa Lane in Carson City.
