This continues the Appeal’s review of news stories and headlines during its Sesquicentennial year. NOV. 9, 1966: Lt. Gov. Paul Laxalt, the son of a Basque sheepherder, celebrated victory over Gov. Grant Sawyer when he won the Nevada governorship in November 1966. He served as governor through Jan. 4, 1971.
