Virginia City resident James Clark will speak on “History of Trains in the Movies” at the Gold Hill Hotel’s Thursday Night Lecture Series on Nov. 5.
Clark is the owner of James Clark & Company, at www.jamesclarkandcompany.com, which offers railroad services to the motion picture industry. He has more than 30 years of railroad motion picture experience, including, knowledge, script breakdown and development, budget preparation, location scouting, equipment acquisition, transportation, props, set dressing, track construction, liaison with railroad personnel, compliance with federal regulations, implement and execute a railroad specific safety program.
Clark’s company provides operating crews, coordinates schedules, obtains track and railroad equipment, assists with special effects and stunt requirements, implements safety programs and keep logs. He is a licensed locomotive engineer both steam and diesel and a member of the Screen Actors Guild, The American Federation of Television and Radio Actors and can perform stunts with trains.
Among the shows he has run trains on, are “Water for Elephants,” “Wild, Wild West”, “Lethal Weapon 4”, “Eraser,” “Under Siege II,” “Fast and the Furious,” “Switch Back,” “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman,” “The X-Files,” “Money Train,” and “Into the West.”
Dinner is 4-8 p.m. at the Crown Point Restaurant at the Gold Hill Hotel with several menu options offered. The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Room. The cost is $25 for the dinner and lecture and $10 for the lecture only.
