The Carson City Leisure Hour Club is continuing the celebration of its 119th year on Wednesday, Nov. 18, when it recognizes five Leisure Hour Club scholars at Western Nevada College. The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom.
For the past several years, the club has funded merit scholarships for five graduates of area high schools. This year’s recipients are Carly Talia, Hannah Higginson, Amanda Weaver and Rogelio Aqui of Douglas High School; and Emily Woods of Carson High School. To attend, call Dorothy Link at 775-885-2542 no later than Thursday, Nov. 12, to make a reservation, which are required for dinner.
