A Carson City man is denying drug charges after he was arrested in Indian Hills on Monday.

Matthew William Goelz, 19, was pulled over by deputies after they allegedly saw him conducting a transaction with another man. According to court documents, Goelz didn’t use his turn signal, providing probable cause for the stop.

During the car stop deputies reported smelling marijuana in the car, which prompted them to search a black Chevrolet.

They allegedly located 41 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of cocaine in the vehicle.

Goelz was arrested Nov. 9. He appeared in Justice Court on Wednesday where his bail was lowered to $2,500 cash or bond. Attorney Maria Pence is representing him.

East Fork Justice of the Peace Tom Perkins set a Nov. 20 preliminary hearing in the case.

According to court documents, Goelz is facing a drug trafficking charge.
