The Virginia & Truckee Railroad will host three weekends of enchanted holiday trains aboard heated, century-old, magical rail coaches. The rides on Nov. 27-29 and Dec. 5- 6 and 12- 13 depart at noon and 2 p.m. from Virginia City’s 140-year-old F Street Station.

The rides offer hot chocolate, cider, cookies and candy canes and a reading of the poem “Night Before Christmas.” The North Pole Candy Cane Sisters will record wishes for Santa’s deliveries, while holiday sing-a-longs are led by a mystery guest.

The day includes a visit to Virginia City’s original V& T train depot. “Dear Santa” postcards will be distributed so children can post their wishes at the depot for delivery to the North Pole.

The rides are for all ages. Passengers are advised to wear warm clothes and bring cameras and asked to arrive 20 minutes before departure.

The cost is $18 for ages 13 and up; $7 for children ages 2-12; and free for children 2 and under. For more information, call 775-847-0380, or go to www.virginiatruckee.com, or email info@virginiatruckee.com.
