A flag ceremony, an annual event to honor America’s heroes, is slated for Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Lahontan Valley VA Clinic on 345 West A St.

Every year the clinic hosts a tribute to past, present and future heroes and to support the military men and women who serve overseas during the holiday season.

Clinic Director Lesley Quinley said the ceremony honors and remembers the military on this special occasion and to honor the men and woman who are serving overseas with their families back home.

Veteran Sonya Simms will be the guest speaker.

Every year, Quinley said one to two individuals are selected to raise the flag prior to the speeches.

Representatives from the Nevada congressional offices and Gov. Brian Sandoval will present certificates at the ceremony
