Mauga nearly ends Rodgers’ streak

Josh Mauga made a Super Bowl MVP chuckle.

The ex-Greenwave multi-sport star almost ended Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ home streak of not throwing an interception as Kansas City’s comeback was too late on Monday Night Football at Lambeau Field. The Chiefs lost their second game in a row — both were on prime time and will return home after this weekend (Oct. 11) when they host the hapless Bears.

Mauga’s potential game-changing moment came in the second half with the Packers rolling into Chiefs territory.

With Rodgers surveying the field, he fired a laser across the middle, not seeing Mauga waiting behind the line. Rodgers’ throw hit Mauga in the chest and he nearly completed the interception with a possibility to set Kansas City up with good field position. Rodgers extended his streak of consecutive passes without an interception at Lambeau to 585.

Mauga, who finished the game with three tackles, and the Chiefs face their third playoff quarterback in a row on Sunday when they travel to Cincinnati to face Andy Dalton and the undefeated Bengals.
