Events honoring fallen Carson City Deputy Carl Howell Saturday

Escorted by local law enforcement, more than 160 riders will take to the streets at Saturday for a charity ride in honor of fallen Deputy Sheriff Carl Howell, who was killed in the line of duty Aug. 15.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Complex. The ride leaves at 10:45 a.m. and concludes at Chester’s Reno Harley-Davidson, 2315 Market St. in Reno, at 11:30 a.m.

Register in advance at www.btlsfoundation.org for $20, or register at the event for $25. All proceeds from the Bikes for Badges Charity Ride will go to the Howell family.

The Deputy Carl Howell Memorial Smackdown Bull Riding event is also happening on Saturday. The bull riding event starts at 3 p.m. at Fuji Park. Tickets at the door cost $20 for adults and $10 for children.
