Three people who died in a deadly single-car rollover east of Fallon Saturday afternoon have been identified.

The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office said the next of kin were notified. The deceased are Mark Hounsell, 42, and his wife, Jeanne Hounsell, 34, of Minden, and Laura Fisher, 33, of Washington, Illinois. The CCSO said Mark Hounsell was a police officer for the South Lake Tahoe, Calif., police department. Four children between ages 4 and 14 were passengers and were part of the Hounsell family. The Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department’s crash truck responded to extract some of the occupants. The CCSO said two children were taken by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, while Banner Churchill paramedics took the other two children to Renown.

Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the rollover of a 2004 Chevrolet that occurred shortly after 5 p.m. east of Sand Mountain on U.S. Highway 50 near mile marker 53.

The accident closed both lanes of U.S. Highway 50, but the highway was later re-opened.

Update: Renown reported the following information to the CCSO late Sunday after the sherif requested it.

One child is in ICU; another is in stable condition; and two have been discharged.

Update: Earlier, CCSO said one of the children died of injuries Sunday morning at Renown. CCSO said the agency received the information from the Nevada Highway Patrol. Since that time, the South Lake Tahoe police say that information was not accurate.
