The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward for anyone with information on an assault on law enforcement officers.
On Sept. 1, at 8:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office Raven Helicopter was on a routine patrol over downtown Reno when it was struck by a laser several times. The laser caused damage to the pilot and observer’s eyes and the helicopter was forced to land at Stead Airport. Both officers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Officials believe the laser strike came from the area of Rampion Drive in Sun Valley.
Anyone with information relating to the crime should call the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office at 775-328-3350, Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 or text a tip to 847411 with the keyword SW. Secret Witness is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
