Ferne was born on October 6, 1919 in San Francisco, CA as Ferne Glasson, and lived there until after high school.
Ferne joined the Order of Job’s Daughters and met her future husband, Melvin Holdorf at a Job’s Daughter/DeMolay dance. She married Mel on November 15, 1941 and they raised their family in San Jose, Menlo Park and San Carlos. They moved to Carson City in 1979 to be near family.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Ferne’s primary focus was her family. She also worked in sales at department stores like Liberty House and Emporium.
Ferne is preceded in death by her son Kenneth Melvin Holdorf and husband, Melvin.
She is survived by her daughters, Claudia (Gary) Schrempp, Carol (IJ) Blevens and Bonnie (Charles) Carter. She has 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services to be held in Gardnerville, NV.
