Richard was born on July 6, 1928 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and graduated from Gloucester High School. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corps and discharged with the rank of sergeant.


He attended the University of San Francisco and San Francisco State College, while employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in San Francisco.


In 1954 he was appointed Special Agent in the FBI, and was assigned to San Antonio, Texas, New York City, Anchorage, Alaska and Salt Lake City, Utah until retirement in 1979.


He then became Director of Security for Zions First National Bank (Zions Bancorporation), having banking offices in four western states, retiring in 1992.


During all of the above, except his tour of duty in the US Marine Corps, Richard was joined by his wife Mary Barrett Head, who he met in the 8th grade. They were married on July 25, 1948, while Richard was in the US Marine Corps.


He is preceded in death by his parents and sister.


He is survived by his wife Mary, son Richard Barrett Head, his wife Lorie, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
