Grants available for recreation trail projects in Carson City area

The Nevada Division of State Parks administers grant funds from the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program (RTP). Approximately $1.2 million in funding is available for the 2017 fiscal year. Applications are due by Feb. 3, 2017.

The program funds both motorized and non-motorized recreational trail projects for federal, state, and local governments, American tribes, special government districts and private individuals and organizations.

Previous projects include the Clear Creek Discovery Trail, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association Outdoor Leadership Guide Training and the Fort Churchill Ruins Loop Nature Trail.

The 2017 RTP grant manual and application is at www.parks.nv.gov or at the Division of State Parks office, 901 S. Stewart St., Suite 5005, Carson City, NV 89701.
