Richard “Dick” Alvin Fields

Dick was born March 19, 1929, in Council, ID. He was the fourth of five sons born to John Wesley and Mable Mildred Fields. He was raised in Lander, WY and grew up working on the family ranch. The family moved to Nampa, ID and Dick graduated from Nampa High School in 1948. In January, 1951, Dick joined the U. S. Navy and served until November, 1954 when he received an honorable discharge. During that time, he married Georgiana Joy Richards while stationed in

Honolulu, HI. Over the years he worked as a roughneck on drilling rigs, deputy sheriff of Nye County, NV, geo-thermal boiler engineer, and quality assurance officer for Fallon Naval Air Base. After 29 years of service, he retired as a civil servant from the U. S. Government in August, 1995. He was an avid coin collector and rock hound. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and had a lifelong love of horses. Everyone who met him, knew him to be a “sweet and generous man”.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Perkins and her husband Rick of Ft. Collins, CO: son Verne Steers of Fallon, NV; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mable Fields; his wife Georgiana Joy Richards Fields; son Gregory Forrey; grandson Brandon Forrey; four brothers, Jack, Cecil, Chester, and Eugene Fields. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Allnutt Funeral Service.

A memorial was held on January 2, 2016 at Allnutt Funeral Home in Ft. Collins, CO.
