The Brooklyn-based musical ensemble, Slavic Soul Party!, will perform tomorrow evening in the first of the city of Fallon sponsored free concerts in the park.

It promises to be rollicking good time show, the exclamation point in the group’s name is an indicator of the energy to come. The band’s leader, Matt Moran, says he sees the band’s offerings as being “heart and feet” music.

The group has been praised by “All Things Considered” on NPR, saying “these guys start out in overdrive and never let up,” and the go-to guide for all things to do in New York also noted “of all the NYC dance bands that draw upon Eastern European music, Slavic Soul Party! Is the coolest.”

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the Centennial Stage in Oats Park in front of the Art Center.

Plan on getting together with family and friends, maybe bring a picnic supper and enjoy an evening of music under the stars. The Art Center’s galleries and Art Bar will be open after the concert.

Churchill Arts is also planning, “Lariat Nights,” a series of free mini-concerts in the Lariat Courtyard at the Art Center on Thursday evenings over the course of the summer.

The shows will be from 5-8 p.m. each evening and will feature music by several local bands. American Crossroads will play on June 23 and July 28; Mark & Friends will perform on July 14 and August 11. The series will conclude with a concert by Money Back Guarantee on Aug. 25.

Beer, wine and a different “crafty” cocktail each week will be available for purchase in the Art Center’s newly renovated Lariat Café. For more information you can contact Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440 or charts@phonewave.net

CAC is also working on the brochure for their 2016-2017 season of performances, films, exhibitions and readings which will be available next month. If you’re reading this and are not on CAC’s mailing list, contact them at the phone and/or email address above to be added to the list.
