Rodeo team begins spring schedule

The Fallon Junior and Senior High School Rodeo Club begins the first of many competitions in Northern Nevada this spring, starting with the Fernley High School Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday and finishing with the state finals in Fallon over the Memorial Day weekend.

At the Boulder City Junior/High School Rodeo on Feb. 27 in the Junior High School barrel racing, Tayler Felton placed third, Jayden Jensen took seventh, and Grace Felton finished ninth. In the breakaway, Chloe Lambert placed first, while Grace Felton came in third, and Jensen followed in fourth. Bethie Ikonen placed second in goat tying followed by Grace Felton in third, and Tayler Felton in eighth. In pole bending, Grace Felton placed second, Lambert finished third, Tayler Felton came in fifth and Jensen took ninth.

In junior high school barrels on the following day, Tayler Felton placed second and Ikonen took eighth, and in breakaway roping, Jensen placed second. In goat tying, Lambert placed third followed by Ikonen, fourth; Grace Felton, fifth; and Tayler Felton, seventh. In pole bending, Jensen led the competitors with a first-place win. Lambert placed second, and Tayler Felton came in 10th. In the team roping Jensen and partner Cade Bell (Humboldt) placed second.

In the High School division on Feb. 27, tie-down roper Jake Cerini placed fifth and Sam Goings came in seventh. Leighton Beyer placed second in pole bending, third in breakaway and 10th in barrels.

Team ropers Caleb and Cord Hendrix placed fifth, Mackay Spyrow and partner Jordan Taylor (Moapa) finished sixth and Blain Jensen and Cerini took 10th.

In tie-down roping on the second day, Sam Goings placed second and Matt Goings finished fourth. Beyer placed fifth in poles, eighth in barrel racing and ninth in breakaway roping. In team roping, Spyrow and Taylor placed first, Jensen and Cerini finished second, Hendrix placed fifth, Jes Tews and partner Austin Iveson (Wells) came in sixth, and Sam and Matt Goings roped their way to eighth.
