Re-erection of the Fire Bell Tower: Mr. A. Lewis, foreman of the Warren Engine Company, says he will erect a new bell tower that was blown down last week. The new structure, to be more substantial than the old one, will be placed on the engine house. The bell is a great convenience to the city.

All sorts: The vegetable man who purchases his radishes and onions from a Chinese man and peddles them out under the anti-Chinese banner is doing a rushing business. The League should teach this man it considers such sneaks as worse than openly avowed enemies.

Cobalt discovery: Discoveries of cobalt, the mineral which forms the key of Edison’s new storage battery, promises to revolutionize the application of electricity. Mr. Edison’s representatives have secured options on a large tract in the cobalt district. Should the discovery prove as extensive as the dispatches indicate, the Wizard will begin mining at once with his new storage battery on the market in a short time.

Emmy Awards: “The Dick Van Dyke Show” collected four Emmys. By networks, 20 Emmy Awards went to NBC, 14 to CBS and 9 to ABC. Included in the winnings were Adam West and Burt Ward for “Batman and “Robin.” Barbara Stanwyck for “The Big Valley.” Don Knotts was awarded a supporting Emmy for “The Return of Barney Fife.”
