33rd annual Holiday Treat concert returns to Carson City Dec. 11

A feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment in an array of styles is making a comeback in Carson City Symphony’s 33rd annual Holiday Treat concert.

The program will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 inside the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

The Symphony will be joined by the Carson City Symphony Chorus, Carson High Chamber Choir, and Victorian Dancers.

Under the direction of Music Director-Conductor David Bugli, the symphony will perform several works, including Christmas at the Movies, Reindeer Rag Time Two-Step, and Hanukkah Songs.

The Carson City Symphony Chorus, directed by Michael Langham, and Carson High Chamber Choir, directed by Andy Sonnemaker, will perform separately and will join with the Symphony for John Rutter’s Gloria.

The Victorian Dancers will whirl and swirl to the sound of Johann Strauss’ Morning Papers Waltz, and performers and audience will join together for the traditional Holiday Treat finale, A Christmas Sing-along.

Pre-concert entertainment by Consort Canzona early music instrumental ensemble begins at 3 p.m. in the lobby. An art exhibit by Capital City Arts Initiative is on display in the Sierra Room.

Tickets are $15 for general admission; $12 for seniors, students, and Symphony Association members; and free for ages 18 and under.

The performance is supported, in part, by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations.
