Inmate in Carson City facility dead of apparent suicide

Prison officials are investigating Wednesday’s death of a 28-year-old inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

Sal Auditore was found in the morning hanging from a bed sheet tied to the upper bunk of his cell — an apparent suicide. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Auditore was serving a 67-168 month sentence for burglary and making counterfeit money out of Washoe County. He had been in the prison since December 2014.
