Dayton in the 1890s will come to life in a play locally written and produced by Misfits Theater Group.
“Meet the Weavers” centers on a stagecoach that makes an unexpected overnight stop after the road to Virginia City washes out from spring rains.
One of the passengers seems taken with her own importance while her son is taken with the clerk at the mercantile. As the story unfolds, love blooms, villains are up to no good, a lost love is found and an old love is renewed.
The audience will be left asking: Will the villains be caught? Is there gold in them there hills? Who’s getting hitched?
The nonprofit theater group, formed in 2004 by Kay and Tony Thornburg, stages plays written by the actors who perform them.
“Meet the Weavers” is written and directed by Dianne McCullough.
Show times are 7 p.m. April 28-29 and May 5-6 at Dayton’s Odeon Hall, 65 Pike St., where the audience is invited to boo, hiss and cheer. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit local charities.
