The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is performing its holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 9. The free concert, conducted by C. J. Birch, will start at 7 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Joining the orchestra are the Voices of the Sierra, led by Rodger Baines. Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” “Holiday Favorites” and “Crazy Christmas Classics” are some of the selections the two groups will perform together.

Also included in the program will be “Winter Wonderland,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and an audience sing-along.

More than 20 raffle items have been donated including dinner certificates, food baskets, and Christmas decorations. Beer and wine are also available for purchase.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is a nonprofit made up of both amateur and professional musicians who donate their talent and time to provide free concerts for the community.

All donations support the orchestra with equipment, music, and scholarships for young musicians continuing their education. The Pops has awarded scholarships for the last five years.
