Carson City Dutch Bros raises funds for Food for Thought

Dutch Bros Carson City raised $1,360 with the help of the community on Dutch Luv Day to support Food for Thought.

Since 2006, Food for Thought, a local nonprofit, has been serving local children in Carson City in need. Food for Thought strives to provide every child a healthy food for the weekend, as well as nutritious food during the weekdays allowing them to be ready to learn without being hungry.

On Feb. 14, all Dutch Bros locations throughout the seven states in which the company operates donated $1 from every drink sold to local food organizations. These local organizations provide meals, food programs and assistance to local men, women and children who are in need of support. They provide support to community members in various ways, with a core mission at heart: to end hunger, as we know it.

Last Dutch Bros donated $234,030, equaling over 1.6 million pounds of food, or over 1.3 millions meals to local organization. This year, with the help of its community, they were able to increase its donation by $17,641 for a total of $251,671. Funds raised on Dutch Luv Day will continue to support Food for Thought as they look to combat hunger and to provide youth around the area with healthy and nutritious meals, resources and food-relief programs.

Dutch Bros Carson City is locally owned and operated by husband and wife duo, Andy and Jill Head. The couple opened their first location in May 18, 2007.

The Heads are passionate about providing their employees with tools to succeed in life and develop compelling futures. Today, they and their 29 employees work together to show Carson City the Dutch Love. The couple plans on adding 35 additional employees to their team with the opening of their new location.
