April 20, 1938 – July 27, 2017

With husband, sons and family at her side, Dorine Ramsden passed away peaceably and well cared for at the Carson Tahoe Hospital on the morning of July 27, 2017.

Dorine was born in Bellflower, California on April 20, 1938, and has been a resident of the Carson Valley area since 1971.

Starting in 1956 she worked with her mother Doris doing early day circuit board soldering and assembly in Northern California. She operated the first “wave soldering machine” of the industry. She continued to work in the electronics industry until 1985 when she began to work with her husband in their own business, Central Sierra Construction. There she greeted customers, did payroll, delivered bids, and many other duties, including being there for Bill during the difficult time of operating a business.

She was very successful in being a great homemaker to her family and a mother to her sons, Mike and Jeff.

Dorine married Bill on December 4, 1975 and became Bill’s partner in years of adventure. She fell right into being a super adventurist and a real team player. She occupied the co-pilot seat for many hours during their years of flying. The wilder the adventure, the more she wanted to go. Together they traveled much of the world as well as most every part of the US, Canada and Mexico. Faraway places like Europe, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. She caught a 135 pound halibut in Alaska and landed it on her own. She loved adventure. She and Bill did well over 500,000 miles in their various motorhomes alone. Just two weeks prior to her passing she enjoyed an RV trip with friends to Glacier and Yellowstone parks.

Locally, she and Bill hosted years of antique tractor and engine shows; antique, classic, and custom car shows; as well as local and national Classic Car Club and Horseless Carriage tours. She was very proactive in all of the events

including opening her museum and collections to all that came. She was an active member of the associated club organizations.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bill Ramsden; sons Mike (wife Debi) of Carson City and Jeff (wife Michelle) of Salinas, California; her grandchildren, Percy Michael, Courtney, Anthony, and Hunter; and her two dogs Maggie & Molly.

Dorine expressed her wishes over the past years to have a Celebration of Life service that she, having a bit of Irish, preferred to call a “Wake”.

Her Celebration will be held at “her place” at 2838 Heybourne Road in Carson Valley on October 1, 2017 starting at 10:00. Her family and friends are invited and welcome. Please bring with you any fond memories of Dorine to share.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation in Dorine’s name to the Carson Valley Sertoma, who will also be assisting with Dorine’s Celebration. The Sertoma is a local non-profit organization that provides special and needed services of all natures to those in need. They also support multiple other local charities. P.O. Box 1546 Minden, NV 89423.
