Lyon County Senior Services is participating in the 15th annual March for Meals, a monthlong, nationwide campaign to benefit Meal on Wheels and help feed local seniors who rely on the meals program.
Through March, hundreds of local meals programs, like the one operated by Lyon County Senior Services, will reach out to their communities for help in funding nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to America’s seniors all year long.
“Our ability to meet the needs of vulnerable seniors lies in the willingness and generosity of businesses, government and concerned individuals of all ages to contribute in their own way,” said Cassandra Pearson, Senior Services Division Manager. “It not only makes economic sense to enable seniors to stay healthy and safe at home, but it improves the health and vibrancy of our communities and our nation at large.”
For information about how to volunteer or donate, email Pearson at cpearson@lyon-county.org.
Also, the Dayton Senior Center is a pool tournament open to ages 60 and older to benefit March for Meals.
The 8-ball tournament at noon March 7 will be at the center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road. Entry costs $10 per person. Lunch will be served before the event for $2.
