“Annie, Jr.” by Wild Horse Children’s Theater plays this and next weekend in the Performance Hall of the Brewery Arts Center, 511 W. King St.
Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, “Annie, Jr.” recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression-era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannigan. Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Among the many familiar musical numbers are “Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” and “Tomorrow.”
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
