Expect an Elvis sighting early next week.

That’s when the Cadillac Cafe, Silver Oak Golf & Event Center’s new 1950s-themed restaurant, opens for business.

“The primary ingredient in all our food is fun,” said executive chef Mitchell Tufts.

That includes: the Elvis Burger, made with heirloom tomatoes and homemade pickles; the Hound Dog, a bratwurst served with sauerkraut; the Bandstand Philly Cheesesteak; and That’s Amore Pizza.

The golf course’s restaurant is reopening after five years, and as a classic diner.

“When we first opened the golf course we focused all our attention on the course,” said Terrie McNutt, general manager, Silver Oak Golf & Event Center. “Now it’s time to embellish our golf course with good food.”

The ’50s theme is a natural for a restaurant owned by Garth Richards, whose nearby private museum holds a huge collection of mid 20th century memorabilia.

“I don’t know anywhere you can go to a ’50s diner and get the real deal,” said McNutt.

Cadillac Cafe’s decor right now features a 1958 BMW Isetta, a couple Bob’s Big Boy statuettes, authentic tabletop jukeboxes and lots more.

“It’s all from his collection and we’ll change it out periodically,” said McNutt.

The Elvis room, full of Presley pieces, seats parties of up to 40 for special events.

There’s another breakout room for up to 40 as well as the 100-seat main restaurant and 50-seat patio overlooking the golf course.

Beside good old-fashioned diner food, including malts, Tufts plans to serve an array of salads and paninis.

“Our motto is to do very simple items and to do them very well,” said Tufts.

The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and will continue to be available for event bookings in the evenings. Sometime before July 4, it will start serving breakfast, said McNutt.

Cadillac Cafe, 1251 Country Club Drive, is opening May 22 with a grand opening and ribbon cutting at noon on May 25.
