A Fallon man was injured Tuesday night in a single-vehicle crash on Bottom Road.

The Churchill County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 6:49 p.m. that a silver 1999 Dodge pickup driven by Matthew Grissom, 37, hit an utility pole after leaving the roadway.

The CCSO said emergency responders discovered the vehicle in a yard at 5630 Bottom Road. Grissom, the sole occupant of vehicle, was taken by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno after being extricated from the vehicle by the Fallon Churchill Volunteer Fire Department and emergency medical services personnel.

The Care Flight helicopter battled gusty winds and an incoming storm to land on Bottom Road.

The CCSO said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
