A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing multiple firearms from the Cal-Ranch Store.

While responding to an unrelated call in the area around midnight, Tuesday morning, Carson City Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to an alarm going off at the Cal-Ranch store. Upon arrival, deputies located several witnesses who said they saw a black male wearing gray sweatpants and a red sweatshirt running from the store to the storage units on Sage Street.

Deputies were searching the area when another call came through dispatch of a prowler near Tiger Drive who said a subject matching the same description as the alleged burglar fled towards the Hot Springs Road Quickstop gas station.

They located the subject, later identified as Jerrion Matlock, 23, near the 600 block of Hot Springs Road and deputies ordered Matlock to stop. According to reports, he briefly stopped before taking off running down Hot Springs Road.

While Matlock was fleeing, a firearm dropped off of his person. Deputies then drew their firearms and ordered Matlock to stop, where deputies detained him. According to the reports, Matlock attempted to fight off officers before complying.

Deputies discovered Matlock had allegedly broken the windows of Cal-Ranch and taken five firearms. Deputies located three of the five firearms and Matlock claimed two other accomplices took the remaining weapons to Reno.

Matlock was arrested on suspicion of felony commercial burglary, five counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, obstructing a peace officer and failure to appear. His bail was set at $148,790.
