Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) are co-hosting a celebration of trails on National Trail Day.

The event will include: educational booths, talks relating to the outdoors, free gear demos, workshops, raffles and pictures with the TRTA mascot, McLeod the Marmot.

Attendees are welcome to sample backpacker’s cuisine, participate in stove demos, pack shakedowns and water sugar pine seedlings. Test your rock shaping skills, fix a flat tire, read a map and more.

As part of the celebration, a park ranger will be leading a two-mile guided hike around Spooner Lake. Bring water and wear sturdy boots.

The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 3 at Spooner Lake State Park. The park sits a quarter of a mile north of Highway 50 on State Route 28 in Glenbrook, Nev.

The cost is free, and park entry fees are waived for the event.
