Oct 12, 1923 - Aug 18, 2018 Gladys Eleanor Turner Crum, 94, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018 in Carson City, Nevada. She was born to Wirt Turner and Gladys Eleanor Frame Turner on October 12, 1923 in Woodland, California. She was raised on a sheep and crop ranch near Elmira outside Vacaville, California. She graduated from Vacaville High School and from UC Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in English. She married Robert Errett Crum in 1947 and moved to the Crum family ranch in Winters, California. Robert and Gladys purchased and operated an almond ranch in Chico, California, from 1955 to 1968. They invested in Glass Mountain Block and moved to Carson City in 1972. Robert passed away in 2015. Gladys taught school after graduating from UC Berkeley. While in Chico, she earned her teaching credential and again taught school for several years. Her passion in life was nature, particularly wildflowers, gardening, and hiking all over the world. Gladys is survived by son Robert Crum of Carson City; daughter Carol Gaston and grandson Jeffrey Wedell of Chico; grandson Mark Wedell of Denver, Colorado; and one great-grandson, Jason. She was pre-deceased by her parents, son Gerald, and sister Aileen Halko. A memorial service will be held August 29 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 412 West Musser, in Carson City. A private interment will follow in the future
