A Wilderness First Aid class is being offered by Bobbie Foster, of Foster Calm, on Aug. 25 and 26 at the Nature Conservancy’s Whit Hall Interpretive Center on Genoa Lane.

The class is sponsored by the Carson Valley Trails Association and costs $115. The number of attendees is limited. Organizers said a quick response is helpful.

Among the many topics to be covered are patient assessment, shock and bleeding, head and spinal injuries, wounds, musculoskeletal injuries and heat and cold illnesses.

There will be a half day of outdoor first aid and leadership skills practice. A three-year Wilderness First Aid card will be issued upon successful completion of the class.

CPR certification is also available on the evening of Aug. 25 at an additional cost of $40.
