Community sports: Pancreatic Cancer Awareness golf event coming up

The Carson City Kiwanis is having the 5th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Silver Oak Golf Course.

Also, two Kiwanis members have donated shirts for the first 100 golfers who come to the packet pickup, Friday, Sept. 14 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Oak clubhouse.

Then, at the tournxament three of the major car dealers in Carson will donate hole in one prizes.

Michael Hohl Motors will give a new Camaro on one par 3, Capital Ford is giving a new Ford on another and finally Carson City Toyota is giving $10,000 on another. To enter a person may pick up an entry form at the Silver Oak pro shop or find information on the Carson Kiwanis website and the Carson City Visitors Bureau.


Empire Ranch senior men’s event

The Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club played its weekly tournament at the Empire Ranch Golf Course on Aug. 29. The event was a Shamble Tournament with 3 or 4 man teams and two best balls scored on each hole.

The top finishers were were:

Flight A (Net score): First — Steve Fagnant, Rene Ojeda, Andrew Warner 105; Flight B: First — Kurt Cleek, Maurice Dias, Jack Mederios 99; second — Paul Lockwood, Joe Gibson, Ray Huntley 104.

Closest to the pin: Blue No. 5 — Skip Yokota; Blue No. 8 — Bill Hetherton; White No. 4 — Bill Milligan; White No. 8 — John Masiello.


Carson Valley Women’s Presidents Cup results

Carson Valley sets Junior Golf Clinics

Carson Valley Golf Course is offering Junior Golf Fall Clinics. The clinics will begin Sept. 12 and will be held for six weeks.

They will last 50 minutes and will be held at 4 p.m. every Wednesday. The clinics are for ages 5-17.

More than $80 of golf goodies will be offered, including 5x9 rounds of golf, snacks and five buckets of range balls.

Cost is $140 and $120 for each additional sibling. Registration can be done online at carsonvalleygolf.com or by calling 775-265-3181.
