Nevada Wolf Pack-Loyola rematch to be televised

RENO — The University of Nevada men’s basketball team’s Sweet 16 rematch with Loyola Chicago will air on ESPNews on Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. from Gentile Arena. The game is part of the 2018 Challenge Series that matches teams from the Mountain West and Missouri Valley Conference. The game is a rematch of the Sweet 16 game played in Atlanta last season won by the Ramblers, 69-68.

Nevada returns four senior starters from its squad that reached the Sweet 16, captured a second consecutive Mountain West title and tied the school record with 29 wins.

Back is MW Player of the Year and AP honorable mention selection Caleb Martin who averaged 18.9 points per game. Twin brother Cody Martin the MW Defensive Player of the Year is back after averaging 14 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

First-team All-MW selection Jordan Caroline also returns for his senior season after scoring 17.7 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per contest.

Senior point guard Lindsey Drew who missed the final 10 games of last season with an Achilles injury is working his way back from the injury. Drew, an all MW Defensive team selection, averaged 8.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Loyola returns three starters, including Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America guard Clayton Custer, from last season’s 32-win outfit that reached the NCAA Final Four for the first time in 55 years.
