Watson here and it’s that time of year to take advantage of the warmer weather and train for Bark in the Park. It’s just around the corner on May 18, so put on your sneakers and hike around the track.

My mom, dad and I have been walking every day. We are all about the same age now because I just had my ninth birthday, which, in dog years, is about 63. Well, in dog years, my mom and dad are dead. Good thing for them dog and human years aren’t the same.

We’re training for the annual 5K Mutt Strut. I plan on getting a medal this year, so I’m trying to get them to pick up the pace. Good grief, I feel like I need to get them to focus. It’s cool to have an activity that dogs rule. I meet lots of friends and get tons of love.

Bring your favorite furry buddy on a leash and take a stroll. It’s not like you have to strain yourself because the first 100 to cross the finish line get a medal. I got one last year, and I had to drag mom and dad along.

You can pre-register for the race right now at CAPS. Dogs walk free and the fee for their people is only $15 per person or $50 for groups of four. The first 150 to register will receive a free T-shirt and goodie bag. The first 100 to cross the finish line will receive a medal. On May 18, registration is from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The walk/run begins at 9 a.m. All money raised from this event goes to supporting CAPS guests.

OK, there is no lag wagon, but I may turn into the Lab wagon if my folks fade. See you there!

XOXO, Watson
