Wildlife Awareness Talk at Washoe Lake State Park on Sept. 6

NEW WASHOE CITY — Learn how to handle a variety of wildlife encounters, whether it’s while camping, hiking, or in your own backyard. Join the Nevada Department of Wildlife’s Urban Wildlife Coordinator for a lesson on what to do and how to react to wild animals, including raccoons, coyotes, bears, mountain lions, bobcats, skunks, and even snakes (gopher snakes and rattlesnakes).

The talk is scheduled for Sept. 6, 6-7 p.m., at the Washoe Lake State Park Equestrian Pavilion.

Take Exit 44 from I-580 and drive north on Eastlake Boulevard approximately four miles. The park entrance is on your left. Turn right past the fee booth, pass the campground, and follow the short gravel road to the equestrian pavilion.

This event is open to the public and is sponsored by Nevada State Parks and the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Park entrance fees are waived for this program.
