The state Board of Education meets Feb. 15 to get public input on the next state superintendent of education, appoint a search committee and begin accepting resumes from applicants.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the department’s Carson City headquarters.

The board plans to accept resumes through March 1. On March 5, the search committee will meet to select four to six candidates for the position vacated by the resignation of Steve Canavero.

Those candidates will be invited to a public interview with the board at its March 12 meeting, after which the board will chose three finalists to forward to Gov. Steve Sisolak.

Deputy Superintendent Jonathan Moore is serving as acting superintendent until Sisolak makes a final decision.
