Longtime Nevada Assembly member Bob Price dies at 82

Longtime Assemblyman Bob Price died Jan. 4 at his home in Sparks.

Price, 82, served 14 terms as an Assemblyman representing North Las Vegas, a total of 28 years from 1974-2002.

Price was a longtime union electrician in Southern Nevada.

A Democrat, he was known for his tradition of closing out the final minutes of each legislative session by playing his guitar and singing, “Take This Job and Shove It,” most often accompanied by a majority of the Assembly.

He’s survived by his wife Nancy, sister Edna Schwenk, daughters Teresa and Cherie, sons William and Nicholas and a stepson David Bogan as well as granddaughters, and great-granddaughters.

Remembrances will be held Saturday at the Bob Price Recreation Center in Las Vegas and Feb. 14 at the Legislature Building in Carson City.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to donate funds for musical instruments or instruments themselves to the recreational center in Las Vegas.
