Full moon hike Monday at Washoe Lake State Park

July events at Washoe Lake State Park include a full moon hike and a birdwatching program. Reservations are required for the full moon hike and can be made by calling 775-687-4319 or e-mailing wlsp@parks.nv.gov. The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle. There is no additional charge for these programs.


Full Moon Hike

Explore Washoe Lake State Park by moonlight. Join park staff for a moderate, 3-mile hike into the hills above Deadman’s Creek. Reservations are required for this hike and can be made by calling 775-687-4319 or e-mailing wlsp@parks.nv.gov. Elevation gain is 620 feet. Participants should wear sturdy hiking boots, dress in layers for the weather, and bring water.

WHEN: 8 to 9:30 p.m. Monday

WHERE: Meet at the boat ramp parking lot inside Washoe Lake State Park, 4855 Eastlake Blvd., Washoe Valley. Take exit 44 from Interstate 580 and drive north on Eastlake Boulevard approximately four miles. The park entrance is on the left. Turn left past the fee booth and the boat ramp is the third parking lot on the right.


Basic Birdwatching

Meet at the boat ramp for an introduction to birdwatching. A limited number of binoculars and bird guides will be available for use. Pets are not recommended for this program.
