Wilson to seek another term as Carson City district judge

Judge James Wilson has announced he will run for a third six-year term as a district judge representing the First Judicial District.

The district covers the state capital as well as Storey County and is represented by Judges Wilson and Todd Russell.

Wilson grew up in Carson City and has an extensive, varied work history that began as a firefighter after he graduated from Carson High.

He received a bachelor of science in business administration from UNR and became a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy.

He received his law degree from McGeorge School of Law in 1981, moving to Elko to serve as a prosecutor in the DA’s office before being elected district attorney.

After returning to Carson City, he had a 20-year career in private practice before being elected to the district court bench.

“Judges have a great opportunity to serve the community, to help resolve disputes involving the most important and personal aspects of people’s lives, families and businesses,” he said. “I strive to treat every person equally and fairly, with patience and respect.”
