With 63 team points the Senators’ girls took third at the Sierra League cross country meet Thursday behind Douglas (51 team points) and Damonte Ranch (28).
Hannah Kaiser was once again Carson’s top finisher, taking seventh in 25:25.
Claire Cartier and Kaitlin Schulze were 14th and 15th, respectively, crossing the line within 10 seconds of each other.
Samantha Schofield (21st, 28:38), Sydney Romero (23rd, 28:54) and Ava Brehm (25th, 29:39) all completed the meet in the top 25.
For the Carson boys, Zachary Sever was third in a tight finish, missing the gold by eight-tenths of a second to Bryce Welton of Galena.
Walker MacKenzie was the next to complete the meet for the Senators with an 18th-place finish in 21:21.
Asher Koch and Ethan Baulerle wrapped up their races in 31st and 33rd, respectively.
Rounding out the Senator runners were Andrew Ingram and Gabe Crossman. Ingram took 36th in 23:35 while Crossman was 37th in 23:46.
Carson boys and girls tennis fall to Reno
The Senators’ boys tennis team dropped its match against Reno Thursday by an 11-7 final.
Eric Tomita and Bradley Wiggins did their part on the doubles court, sweeping all three of their sets by scores of 7-6 (4), 6-0 and 6-1.
All three Carson singles players secured a win as Benjamin Tureson, Gabriel Fanning and Dante Whatley all picked up a point.
Jacob Frazer and Luke Pedersen needed a tiebreaker, but the duo added another point to the Senators total with a 7-6 (1) win.
On the girls side, the Senators dropped their match against Reno 18-0 in a rain-shortened match.
Douglas boys and girls cross country take second at Sierra League Meet
The Tiger boys and girls cross country teams finished one spot off the lead Thursday at Washoe Lake State Park.
On the boys side it was top 10 finishes from Matthew Kruse (fourth, 20:11), Soma Baligad (fifth, 20:12), Cameron Battcher (eighth, 20:48) and Calvin Doerr (10th, 20:56) that allowed the Tigers to finish with 41 team points – just four behind Galena.
Cody Jackson and Jackson Davis finished 14th and 20th, respectively, while Dominic Jackson was 21st in 21:48.
Chad Maricich was 24th, Jarom Langkilde crossed right behind Maricich in 25th and Kole Karwoski rounded out the Douglas runners with a 26th-place finish.
The girls team scored 51 team points, taking second behind Damonte Ranch, which won the meet with 28 points.
Zoe Brown took home the top finish for Douglas, taking sixth in 25:20.
Addison Gregory and Sofia DeLange took home top 15 finishes, crossing the line in ninth and 13th, respectively.
Leonna Hinnant and Akira Kondo were 18th and 20th as the pair completed the race within five seconds of each other.
Sophia Maricich and Addie Berger were 24th and 28th, respectively, for the Tigers.
Carson volleyball drops one with Spanish Springs
After their thrilling home win Tuesday over McQueen, the Senators went back on the road and fell to Spanish Springs Thursday 3-1.
Carson girls soccer falls to Reed, boys game postponed
The Senator girls soccer team lost to Reed Tuesday by a 2-0 final score.
The Raiders deposited a goal in the first and second halves as two sophomores, Rylee Husted and Maylin Rivera, each posted a goal.
Wednesday, the Carson boys played about 20 minutes of scoreless action against Reed before the game was ultimately postponed due to lightning in the area.
The Senators had pushed the pace and controlled the tempo in the game’s early going, but neither team was able to net a goal before play was halted.
A potential make-up date has not yet been announced.
