Carson City Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 37-year-old man on Monday in Carson City.

Joseph Desjardin, 37, was arrested at 5:14 p.m. after a high speed chase on Airport Road.

Desjardin was initially charged with possession of a pickup truck stolen the day after Christmas. But press releases and the arrest report filed by Carson sheriff’s deputies say they believe he is the perpetrator of several burglaries over the past week.

On Dec. 26, a commercial burglary was reported at Design Trends Tile and Stone at 2250 S. Carson St. Tools were taken from the business. Surveillance video showed a suspect vehicle, a white Ford truck with a black lumber rack and a tool box on the left side of the truck bed.

On Saturday, a grand larceny was reported at Cal-Ranch at 2035 N. Carson St. At approximately 9 p.m., a white male was observed looking at snowblowers at the side of Cal Ranch. The male was wearing a tan jacket and a beanie. A short time later the fencing at Cal Ranch was cut and a snowblower was taken. Surveillance cameras captured a white Ford truck being used in the theft. When deputies reviewed the surveillance video, the Ford truck was the same truck used in the previous South Carson Street burglary.

The same suspect and suspect vehicle was identified following thefts at Reno Home Depot locations. The thefts occurred early Jan. 4 and 5 at the Damonte Ranch and South Virginia Street Home Depot locations. Snow throwers and large tool boxes were taken.

Desjardin was identified through surveillance camera footage, according to the arrest report. That report charges that, when a deputy spotted the white truck on Airport Road, the driver fled, eventually abandoning the truck and running into a yard. He was captured by deputies and charged with possession of the stolen truck, eluding deputies, and a probation violation as well as FTA traffic. He was ordered held without bail.

Anyone with information or questions is encouraged to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 775-887-2677, Investigation Division, Detective Sam Hatley at 775-283-7852, Investigations Capt. Brian Humphrey at 775-283-7850 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.

The case numbers are 2019-8633 and 2020-119.
