Stanley Pochop of Carson City celebrated his 101st birthday last weekend with family, friends and cake.

Pochop, whose birthday is Feb. 28, 1919, served in the Army Air Corps as a flight instructor from 1942 to 1945 and moved to the west side of Carson City about 1948, according to his daughter Marilyn “Pettie” Pochop.
