Gladys McKenzie April 4, 1927 - May 2, 2020

Gladys McKenzie of Carson City, NV went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2020. She was born on April 4, 1927 and was raised in Kansas City, MO.

She graduated Pasco High School in 1944. After WWII, she moved to CA and in 1947 married Lloyd Sitts in San Francisco. They moved to Pacifica, CA and raised 3 kids. Gladys was an Asst. Den Mother for her son's Cub Scouts and Asst. Troop Leader for her daughters Girl Scouts. When the kids were in a majorette group, Gladys was one of the parents chaperoning every parade they marched in. She was also active with the Lioness Organization.

In 1972 Gladys moved to Carson City, NV and was divorced in 1974. In 1979 she married John McKenzie. They loved to fish and took annual trips to Alaska for the fishing. After John passed away, Gladys began to travel. She went to Australia, Israel, cruise of the Med, and took a train through England, Europe, Germany and more. Gladys was also an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Carson City and volunteered to work in the church office. She also volunteered in the gift shop at Carson Tahoe Hospital. She had to stop volunteering when her eyesight began to fail. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Gardnerville.

She is preceded in death by her husband John McKenzie and daughter Carol Young.

She is survived by her son Lyon Sitts, daughter Mary Sitts (Greg), 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
