The federal transportation department has awarded Nevada $23 million to build a road connecting the Pyramid Lake Highway to U.S. 395.

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., announced the grant saying Pyramid Highway carries nearly 50,000 cars a day.

She said the new road will reduce accidents and congestion as well as create good paying jobs.
