After losing to Lowry in a close low-scoring game on Friday, the Lady Wave softball team and the Bucks hammered the ball in a Saturday doubleheader split.

The Wave dropped the first game 17-16 but took the afternoon game, 18-17.


The Wave, 1-2 in the Northern 3A East division, hosts Fernley today at 3 p.m. and travels to Fernley for a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

The Wave jumped on Lowry for 14 runs in the first two innings, but Lowry kept chipping away at the lead.

The Wave led 6-4 at the end of the first inning on RBI singles from Lydia Bergman and Shaylee Fagg.

Rachel Mori and Savana Manha each belted two-run homers in the second, and Kiley Wallace ripped a  two-run double as the Wave jumped on Lowry. Bergman also had a two-run homer to give the Wave a 16-4 lead going into the top of the third.

Lowry scored a run in the third but five runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to trail 15-14

The Wave scored two runs in the sixth on a passed ball and a throw that allowed Bergman to score.

Fallon pounded out 14 hits with Bergman having four, and Wallace, Mori, Manha and Fagg each had two hits.

Shayda Lofthouse picked up the win for Fallon.

The Buckaroos came-from-behind in the first game and took a 17-16 win.

The Wave had an 11-2 lead before Lowry put up four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and eight in the sixth.

Fallon scored four in the first on Rachel Mori’s two-run homer, Manha’s triple and Trinity Helton’s sacrifice fly.

Bergman knocked in three runs with a double in the second. In the third, Mori singled in a run, and Coldwell and Cassie Edgmon each scored with the bases loaded. Helton had an RBI single.

Fallon added four in the fifth inning with Manha launching a two-run homer.

Mori took the loss for Fallon.

Fallon lost in Winnemucca, 6-4. The game was tied late in the game until Lowry scored twice.

Mori had a two-run homer, but she also took the pitching loss. Bergman scored the other two runs.
