DAYTON — Shayda Lofthouse pitched a one-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday as the visiting Lady Wave defeated Dayton 21-0 in Northern 3A-East softball.

Fallon also took the second game behind the arm of Trinity Helton, 22-1. The Wave is 11-4 while Dayton remains winless.
The Lady Wave finished third in league standings with a mini-league tournament slated for this weekend in Winnemucca. Fallon, the No.3 team, plays Dayton again at 1 p.m. The Dust Devils enter the two-day tournament as the No. 6 team. The winner then plays Fernley at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and the championship game is at 2 p.m. In the other bracket is Lowry against the winner of Elko and Spring Creek.

Fallon wasted little time in scoring in Saturday’s first game, crossing the plate for 11 runs.

Lydia Bergman swung the big bat in the inning, driving in the game’s first run and then hitting a grand slam on her next plate appearance. Emily Clyburn singled in two runs, and Rachel Mori’s single accounted for another run.
Fallon scored four runs in the top of the second inning.

Trinity Helton and Samantha Frost each had two-run RBIs.

The Wave continued with their scoring streak in the second game, beginning with 11 runs in the first inning.

Bergman doubled home two runs to give Fallon the first lead. Helton doubled to left field to give Fallon a 3-0 lead. Raelynn Neumann’s RBI single added two more runs. Shaylee Coldwell smacked a three-run hit for an 8-0 lead.

In their second time at bat, Helton smacked a two-run single, and Neumann singled to right field to make the score 11-0.
Fallon added six runs in the second inning, aided by Bergman’s three-run home run. An error led to another run, and Hudsyn Clark and Frost each had RBI singles.

Fallon loaded the bases in the third.

Shaylee Fagg was hit by a pitch, and Helton singled to give Fallon a 19-1 lead.

Clark and Frost each repeated their previous plate appearances and singled home a run each. An error led to another run.
Dayton scored a run in the second inning. Alissa Peterson singled, swiped second and went to third on a passed ball. Dayton pulled a double steal that allowed Peterson to score.

Helton struck out seven and walked one.

Lady Wave defeat Dayton in Fallon
The Lady Wave softball team won the first game of a three-game series Wednesday by defeating Dayton, 28-0, at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.

Fallon has been on a roll, winning its last nine games to post a 9-4 record. Lowry leads the Northern 3A-East with an 11-2 record, losing only to Fallon and Spring Creek. Both Fallon and Fernley have identical records, but the Vaqueros hold the tie-breaker for second place when they took two out of three games from the Wave in late April.

Fallon had an easy time against the inexperienced Dust Devils, scoring seven runs in the first inning before the first out.
With the bases loaded, Rachel Mori scored on a passed ball. Shaylee Fagg stepped up and ripped a three-run homer to centerfield. After Savana Manha is hit by a pitch, and Reece Hutchings singles, Trinity Helton stroked a two-run double for a 6-0 lead. Hudsyn Clark singled in a run.

Fallon had a 9-0 lead with two outs after Cassie Edgmon singled home a run, and Lydia Bergman grounded out on a fielder’s choice to score a run.

The Wave scored its next three runs on passed balls and a single from Helton, who was batting for the second time in the inning. Clark drove in two runs on a double, and Mori swatted a two-run home run for a 17-0 Fallon lead. Edgmon followed with a solo shot over the centerfield fence for her third RBI.

Helton, who was batting for the third time in the inning, also drove in two more runs with a single for a 21-0 lead. She had five RBIs in the game.

The Wave loaded the bases again, and scored on four walks, and Fagg doubled in two runs for a 27-0 lead.

In the second inning, Raelynn Neumann smacked an RBI single, her fourth hit of the game.

The game was called after the third inning because of the mercy rule.

Mori pitched the first two innings, and Lofthouse the third.
